Prakash Raj’s mother Suvarnalatha passes away at 86 at family residence

Indian actor Prakash Raj’s mother is no more. According to reports dated March 30, 2026, Suvarnalatha passed away at the family’s residence in Bengaluru on Sunday, March 29. It is reported that the last rites of the deceased will be performed on Monday. She had been dealing with age-related ailments and other health issues prior to her passing.

While the exact cause of her death has not been officially confirmed, a report by News18 suggests that she breathed her last due to age-related complications. Earlier, the 86-year-old had been diagnosed with a brain cyst, which led to severe brain damage, including memory loss. Prakash Raj had previously opened up about his mother’s health challenges.

As the veteran actor mourns the loss, members of the film industry have come forward to express their condolences. Actor Pawan Kalyan extended his sympathies to the grieving family. Taking to his X account, he wrote, “I am deeply saddened to learn that the mother of the renowned actor Shri @prakashraaj, Smt. Suvarnalatha Garu has passed away. I pray to the Almighty that her soul attains eternal peace. I extend my deepest condolences to Shri Prakash Raj Garu, who is grieving the loss of his mother, and to all the members of his family.”

She is survived by her three children, including Prakash Raj, along with another son and a daughter.

Meanwhile, with a career spanning nearly four decades across Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, and English films, Prakash Raj has established himself as a versatile performer. He was last seen in Seetha Payanam earlier this year and has several upcoming projects lined up, including Jana Nayagan, G2, and Dacoit, all expected to release in 2026.

The coming year also looks promising for the actor, as he is set to feature in two highly anticipated big-budget films, including S. S. Rajamouli’s Varanasi and Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit.
