The future of Hera Pheri 3, starring Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal, appears increasingly uncertain. Director Priyadarshan has now made a startling claim, stating that he is no longer associated with the project and expressing doubts that the film will ever be completed.
Priyadarshan says he is no longer part of Hera Pheri 3
In an interview with Hindustan Times, Priyadarshan addressed the ongoing speculation surrounding the much-awaited comedy sequel.
He said, “What Firoz (Nadiadwala) has said is true. I am not associated with Hera Pheri 3 at present. To the best of my knowledge, Hera Pheri 3 will never hit the screens due to lots of issues and personal conflicts. Whether I am involved or not is unimportant.”
His remarks come shortly after producer Firoz Nadiadwala confirmed that Priyadarshan is no longer attached to the film. However, the producer maintained an optimistic outlook, stating that the project is “on the right track and moving in the right direction.”
About the Hera Pheri franchise
Released in 2000, Hera Pheri remains one of Bollywood’s most beloved comedy films. Starring Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal, the cult classic is the Hindi remake of the 1989 Malayalam film Ramji Rao Speaking, which itself was inspired by the American television film See the Man Run (1971).
The story follows Raju, Shyam, and their eccentric landlord Baburao Ganpatrao Apte, whose lives take an unexpected turn after a wrongly connected ransom phone call presents them with an opportunity to earn quick money.
The film’s enduring popularity led to the 2006 sequel, Phir Hera Pheri, directed by the late Neeraj Vora. Over the years, the franchise has become a cornerstone of Hindi comedy, with its dialogues, characters, and scenes achieving iconic status in pop culture.
Priyadarshan’s next project

Scheduled to arrive in cinemas on September 11, 2026, the film also features Kajol, Bobby Deol, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Saiyami Kher, and others in pivotal roles, with Malayalam superstar Mohanlal making a special cameo appearance.
