Raja Shivaji continued its strong run at the Indian box office, collecting approximately Rs. 12.25 crore on Day 2. The Marathi version contributed around Rs. 8.25 crore, while the Hindi version added nearly Rs. 4 crore. This takes the film’s two-day total to about Rs. 25.25 crore, with Rs. 17.25 crore from Marathi and Rs. 8 crore from Hindi markets.
The film witnessed an excellent hold on its second day, dropping just around 5% from its holiday opening. Typically, a decline of 30–40% could be expected after a holiday boost, but the near-steady performance signals strong audience interest. While Maharashtra saw a slight dip, collections across the rest of India remained stable or even improved. The film has earned roughly Rs. 19 crore in Maharashtra alone within two days.
The opening numbers are unprecedented for Marathi cinema, which aligns with the film’s масштаб and budget, making it the most expensive Marathi production to date. However, its ambitions go beyond regional records, aiming to compete with major state blockbusters like Chhaava and Tanhaji—both based on Maratha history and among the biggest hits in Maharashtra. Notably, Chhaava crossed Rs. 300 crore, setting a high benchmark.
Historically, Marathi films have shown strong long-term trends. Chhaava achieved nearly 20 times its opening day collections, while Tanhaji reached close to 25 times. If Raja Shivaji follows a similar trajectory, it could deliver an exceptional lifetime total. Currently, the highest-grossing Marathi film remains Sairat at around Rs. 100 crore—a record that now looks under serious threat.
