Batwara 1947, headlined by Sunny Deol alongside Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Karan Deol, Abhimanyu Singh and others, is set to arrive in cinemas within the next few hours. However, the film’s advance booking has remained on the lower side considering its scale and star cast. The movie has managed to sell just over 20,000 tickets across the two leading national chains, PVR INOX and Cinepolis, for its opening day.
With pre-sales failing to create a major buzz, the film will now largely depend on spot bookings and walk-in audiences. A positive response from viewers could give the movie a significant boost over the course of the day. At present, Batwara 1947 is tracking towards a single-digit opening of around Rs. 4–7 crore nett at the Indian box office.
Batwara 1947 Faces Competition From Awarapan 2
Batwara 1947 will be competing directly with Awarapan 2, which has recorded a much stronger advance booking response. The Emraan Hashmi starrer has generated considerable momentum ahead of its release, making it interesting to see whether Sunny Deol’s film can sustain its run and compete with it over the coming days.
Sunny Deol and Rajkumar Santoshi Reunite
Backed by Aamir Khan Productions, Batwara 1947 marks the reunion of Sunny Deol and director Rajkumar Santoshi after several years. The duo has previously collaborated on acclaimed films including Damini, Ghayal and Ghatak. With the theatrical release now just hours away, the audience response will play a crucial role in determining the film’s box office trajectory.
