Here’s a more human, smooth, entertainment-desk style rewrite — same numbers, better flow, less report-like
Sunny Deol is back in fighting form at the box office.
His latest release, Border 2, has delivered a thumping opening weekend, raking in over ₹112 crore nett in its first three days at the Indian box office. Directed by Anurag Singh, the military drama picked up strong momentum over the weekend, closing Sunday with an impressive ₹48.50 crore haul.
Backed by JP Films and T-Series Films, Border 2 has now secured its place as the 10th biggest opening weekend of all time in Hindi cinema. While it fell short of Gadar 2’s massive ₹132.50 crore debut, the film still managed to leapfrog several major releases.
Featuring Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty and others alongside Deol, Border 2 comfortably surpassed 2025 blockbuster Chhaava, which opened at ₹108.50 crore. With a Republic Day holiday on Monday, trade watchers expect collections to get another boost in the coming days.
The all-time benchmark remains Jawan
At the very top of the list is Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, which continues to hold the crown for the biggest Hindi opening weekend ever with ₹177 crore. It is followed by Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal (₹168.50 crore) and Pathaan (₹160.50 crore), underlining the post-pandemic resurgence of big-ticket Bollywood releases.

The big question now is how far Border 2 can go from here — and whether it can replicate the kind of sustained box-office mayhem that Gadar 2 unleashed during its historic run.
