After the success of Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, Maddock Films is quietly developing a sequel. Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon return, with Janhvi Kapoor joining the cast.
The story will continue from where the first film left off, expanding the sci-fi rom-com concept on a larger scale. The script is expected to be ready by August 2026, with filming planned for early 2027. However, studio timelines may depend on the performance of Cocktail 2.
3. Patriot and Dacoit Trailers Released
Patriot
Mammootty and Mohanlal reunite after a decade in the spy action drama Patriot, directed by Mahesh Narayanan. The trailer, released on April 4, 2026, showcases a high-stakes plot involving a privatized intelligence system and the peril it poses.
The film also features Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban, Nayanthara, Revathi, Rajiv Menon, and Darshana Rajendran. It is scheduled for a May 1, 2026, theatrical release.
Dacoit
Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur’s Pan-India action thriller Dacoit: A Love Story also dropped its trailer on April 4. The intense story follows a couple torn apart by circumstances, exploring themes of love, revenge, and redemption.
The film is directed by Shaneil Deo and written by Adivi Sesh. Supporting cast includes Anurag Kashyap, Prakash Raj, Kamakshi Bhaskarla, Sunil, and Atul Kulkarni. Dacoit hits theaters on April 10, 2026.
4. Jailer 2 Update: Rajinikanth Confirms Film in ‘Finishing Stage’
Fans of Rajinikanth were treated to a major update about Jailer 2. At a recent airport interaction, the superstar said:
“Jailer 2 is almost complete; it is in the finishing stage. The release date will be announced by the production company soon. KHxRK, directed by Nelson, will begin shooting in August 2026.”
The action-comedy, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, sees Rajinikanth reprising his role as “Tiger” Muthuvel Pandian, alongside Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Mithun Chakraborty, Vidya Balan, SJ Suryah, and a rumored cameo by Shah Rukh Khan.
