Last year, 20 celebrities from the entertainment industry took part in The Traitors India. Hosted by Karan Johar, the reality show revolved around contestants engaging in strategic mind games to identify the hidden traitor among them and win a prize of ₹1 crore. Following the strong response to its debut season, the filmmaker is now set to return with Season 2 featuring a fresh lineup of popular faces.
Karan Johar returns with Season 2
The Traitors India aired from June 12 to July 3, 2025, and kept viewers hooked with its suspense-driven format. Inspired by the Dutch show De Verraders, the series brought together contestants competing in a high-stakes psychological game to expose the traitor and claim the grand prize. After the first season performed exceptionally well on Amazon Prime Video, the makers quickly greenlit a second installment.
The official announcement for Season 2 was made during a recent slate launch event. Expanding the franchise further, the makers also revealed The Traitors Telugu, which will be hosted by Teja Sajja. Reports suggest that Karan Johar has already begun filming the new season at the same venue—Suryagarh Palace.
The first season featured a diverse mix of influencers and celebrities, including Raj Kundra, Karan Kundrra, Mukesh Chhabra, Maheep Kapoor, Ashish Vidyarthi, Raftaar, Elnaaz Norouzi, Sufi Motiwala, Anshula Kapoor, Jannat Zubair Rahmani, Apoorva Mukhija, Jasmin Bhasin, Purav Jha, and Harsh Gujral, among others.
Out of the 20 contestants, Nikita Luther and Uorfi Javed emerged as winners, taking home a combined prize of ₹70.5 lakh. Meanwhile, reports indicate that Season 2 could see actors like Sanjay Kapoor and Mallika Sherawat joining the new lineup.
Earlier, Karan Johar had confirmed on social media that the second season was already in development. Expressing his excitement, he shared that the quick renewal—just days after the premiere—was a testament to the show’s success, crediting both the contestants and the production team for its popularity.
