The political drama The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond, directed by Kamakhya Narayan Singh, collected approximately Rs 1.75 crore on its second Friday, showing a 12 percent decline compared to the previous day. After earning Rs 20.15 crore during its first week, the film’s total now stands at around Rs 21.90 crore nett at the Indian box office after eight days in theatres.

The film features Ulka Gupta, Aishwarya Ojha, and Aditi Bhatia in leading roles. Based on current trends, the movie is expected to cross the Rs 25 crore mark by the end of its second weekend.

With no major releases scheduled before Dhurandhar: The Revenge, the film could continue to attract some audience over the coming days. However, its long-term performance during the second and third weeks will determine how far it can go at the box office.

Compared to its predecessor, The Kerala Story, the sequel has not matched the same level of impact. Nevertheless, its current earnings are still considered decent for a film without major star power. The original movie had an impressive run, opening with Rs 6.75 crore and eventually collecting around Rs 220 crore nett in India.

Several similar films saw significant success in the early 2020s, though many follow-ups have struggled to replicate that momentum. For example, The Bengal Files witnessed a sharp decline compared to The Kashmir Files. Similarly, the upcoming The Kashmir Files 2 is also expected to perform lower than the original, although it may still recover its costs.
