Riteish Deshmukh has emerged as one of the most versatile talents in Indian cinema, seamlessly balancing acting, production, direction, and hosting over a career spanning nearly 25 years. While he enjoys widespread popularity in Hindi films, his contribution to Marathi cinema has been equally remarkable — with an impressive streak of successful outings.

After delivering multiple hits in the Marathi film industry, Riteish is now gearing up for his most ambitious project yet — Raja Shivaji, a grand historical drama based on the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

The film boasts a stellar ensemble cast, featuring Genelia Deshmukh, Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Fardeen Khan, Mahesh Manjrekar, and Vidya Balan in key roles, with Salman Khan set to make a special appearance — further amplifying the film’s buzz.

Interestingly, Riteish has also taken on directorial duties for the project, marking a significant milestone in his creative journey. The teaser, released recently, has already generated strong audience interest, hinting at the film’s massive scale and cinematic ambition.

Positioned as one of the biggest pan-India films to emerge from Marathi cinema, Raja Shivaji aims to bridge regional storytelling with nationwide appeal. The music, composed by Ajay-Atul, has further elevated excitement, with tracks gaining traction online.

Backing the film under his banner, Mumbai Film Company, Riteish continues his streak of supporting meaningful and successful cinema. The production house has previously delivered critically acclaimed and commercially successful films like Balak Palak, Yellow, Lai Bhari, Faster Fene, Mauli, and the blockbuster Ved.

Known for experimenting across genres while maintaining strong box office appeal, Riteish has carved a unique space for himself. Films like Ved (₹73 crore) and Lai Bhari (₹33 crore) highlight his strong connection with audiences.

With Raja Shivaji, Riteish Deshmukh is not just telling a powerful historical story but also aiming to take Marathi cinema onto the national stage. The film is slated for a theatrical release on May 1, 2026, in multiple languages, including Hindi and Marathi.
