Project Hail Mary continues its impressive box office run, maintaining a strong hold in global markets. The Ryan Gosling starrer collected USD 8 million on its second Tuesday in the U.S., marking a drop of around 15% from the first discounted Tuesday. Notably, this stands as the second-best second Tuesday ever for a March release in the U.S., trailing only Beauty and the Beast, which earned USD 9.5 million on the same day.
The film’s domestic total has now reached USD 177.2 million by the end of its second Tuesday. However, it is set to face stiff competition from The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which is expected to take over a majority of IMAX screens starting tomorrow.
Going by current trends, Project Hail Mary is likely to cross the USD 200 million mark in the U.S. by its second weekend, possibly by Saturday or Sunday. If it manages to hold steady despite the new release, the film could wrap up its domestic run in the range of USD 275 million to USD 310 million.
On the global front, the film is already approaching the USD 350 million milestone. The big question now is whether it can sustain momentum and push towards the USD 500 million mark by the end of its theatrical run.
