SS Rajamouli’s upcoming film Varanasi has already been creating a buzz, thanks to its massive scale, staggering budget, and star-studded cast. The film’s official title glimpse was unveiled at a grand event last November, setting expectations sky-high. Now, actor Prakash Raj has added to the excitement by sharing an update from the film’s Varanasi schedule.

Taking to social media, the veteran actor revealed that he has wrapped up one shooting schedule of the film. Sharing his experience, Prakash Raj described the shoot as both “wonderful” and “exhilarating,” calling it “a joy to the hungry actor within me.” He also thanked director SS Rajamouli and co-stars Mahesh Babu, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, adding that he’s already looking forward to returning for the next schedule.

For those unaware, Varanasi is a globe-trotting action adventure with Mahesh Babu in the lead role of Rudhra. Priyanka Chopra Jonas plays Mandakini, his on-screen counterpart, while Prithviraj Sukumaran essays Kumbha, the film’s primary antagonist. Details about Prakash Raj’s character are being kept tightly under wraps, but his enthusiasm suggests his role could be pivotal to the story.

Mounted on a reported budget of ₹1300 crore, Varanasi ranks among the most expensive films ever made in Indian cinema. Currently in production, the film is targeting a grand theatrical release in 2027. While early reports suggested the project might be released in two parts, the makers have since decided to present it as a single, standalone film.

Meanwhile, Prakash Raj is also busy with another major project. He will be seen in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit, which is currently being filmed. Reports suggest that he plays a Superintendent of Police in the Prabhas and Triptii Dimri-starrer cop action drama.
