Kareena Kapoor Khan clarifies rumours about Ranbir Kapoor and Karisma Kapoor reviving Raj Kapoor Studios

by masalabuzz

RK Studios, established by Raj Kapoor, was once a legendary production house known for classics like Shree 420, Mera Naam Joker, and Ram Teri Ganga Maili. However, the property was sold to a corporate group a few years ago. Recently, speculation surfaced that Ranbir Kapoor might revive the studio, but Kareena Kapoor Khan has now dismissed those claims, confirming there are no such plans.

Kareena Kapoor denies revival rumours

Responding to the buzz around Ranbir Kapoor and Karisma Kapoor potentially bringing back the iconic studio, Kareena clarified that the reports are unfounded. In an interview, she revealed that the topic even came up in their family discussions, where everyone agreed it wasn’t happening. She added that while many fans may hope for a revival, Ranbir is currently focused entirely on his acting career.

Kareena went on to praise him, calling him one of the finest actors in the country today, and emphasized that his priority remains performing rather than stepping into production or direction. She also admitted that although the idea of reviving the studio is emotional, she doesn’t see herself taking on a producer or director’s role, joking that perhaps Karisma and Ranbir could consider it instead.

Work front updates

On the professional front, Kareena will next be seen in Daayra, directed by Meghna Gulzar, alongside Prithviraj Sukumaran. She shared that working with Meghna is a new experience for her and described the film as relevant and exciting. Kareena also expressed interest in exploring different formats, including possibly starring in a web series or miniseries in the near future.

Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor is gearing up for Ramayana Part 1, directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra. The film, which also stars Yash, Sai Pallavi, and Sunny Deol, is currently in post-production and is slated for a Diwali 2026 release. The second part is already under production, and Ranbir also has Love and War lined up next.
