Hum Tum has grown into one of Bollywood’s most beloved romantic comedies over the years. Starring Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerji, the film was a major hit upon release and continues to charm audiences. Now, director Kunal Kohli has revealed an interesting casting twist—Hrithik Roshan was initially interested in the script but ultimately chose not to take up the role.
Casting twist revealed
In a recent conversation, Kunal Kohli shared that Hrithik Roshan had loved the script but wasn’t ready to commit to the film. The actor reportedly felt uncertain about his suitability for the role, especially after his previous collaboration with the filmmaker, Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon, failed to impress at the box office.
Recalling the moment, Kohli said Hrithik believed he wasn’t in the right space to do justice to the character and even described the film as “pure gold,” while admitting he lacked the confidence to take it on at the time.
Following his exit, several leading actors were considered for the role of Karan Kapoor, before it eventually went to Saif Ali Khan, who went on to make the character iconic.
