The upcoming Bollywood romantic comedy Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai has officially postponed its theatrical release to June 12, 2026. The film was earlier scheduled to arrive in cinemas on June 5, but the makers decided to shift the date by a week following recent changes in the release calendar of other big films.

The move comes after Yash (actor)’s Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups was rescheduled to release on June 4, instead of its earlier planned date of March 19. That earlier date would have resulted in a box office clash with Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge.

Update on Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai

The romantic comedy stars Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde in the lead roles. The ensemble cast also includes Maniesh Paul, Mouni Roy, Jimmy Sheirgill and Chunky Panday. Notably, the film has faced a couple of release date changes in the past as well.

The production house Tips Films shared an official statement on social media explaining the decision. While the note did not mention any specific film, the makers stated that the shift was made considering the current situation in the industry and to maintain a healthy release environment.

According to the statement, the film was originally scheduled for June 5, a date announced months earlier. However, after recent developments, the team felt it would be better to move the release and avoid unnecessary competition with other films.

The statement also emphasized that the industry functions best when filmmakers support each other rather than clash at the box office. In that spirit, the team decided to bring the film to audiences one week later, on June 12, 2026.

About the film

Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai is reportedly a love triangle revolving around the three lead characters. The story follows a man who has faced repeated rejection in love and eventually comes up with a plan to change his romantic fate.

Directed by David Dhawan and produced by Ramesh Taurani, the film marks the fourth collaboration between Varun Dhawan and his father David Dhawan after their earlier films Main Tera Hero, Judwaa 2 and Coolie No. 1 (2020 film).
