Emraan Hashmi Opens Up About Son Ayaan’s Rare Cancer Diagnosis: “My Whole World Flipped in 12 Hours”
Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi, known for hits like Zeher, Awarapan, and Jannat, has long been a crowd favorite. But behind the glitz of the silver screen, he faced one of the toughest challenges of his life—his young son Ayaan’s cancer diagnosis.
In a heartfelt conversation with Ranveer Allahbadia, Emraan recounted the day his life changed forever. “On January 13, 2014, we were having a normal brunch—pizza with my son,” he said. “That’s when the first symptom appeared. He passed blood in his urine. Within three hours, we were at a doctor’s clinic. And the doctor said… your son has cancer. He needs surgery tomorrow, followed by chemotherapy.”
The actor called the moment “the most difficult phase of my life,” adding, “My whole world flipped in a matter of 12 hours. There’s no way to truly put that into words.” Ayaan’s treatment spanned five long years, but the family’s ordeal finally eased when he was declared cancer-free in January 2019.
Emraan’s story is also one of love and support. He married Parveen Shahani in December 2006 after dating for six and a half years, and their family has stood together through the darkest moments, emerging stronger on the other side.
Even now, Emraan credits the experience with reshaping his priorities, reminding him of the fragility of life and the power of resilience.
