Dhurandhar The Revenge Tops Australia Box Office, Becomes Highest-Grossing Indian Film in Just 10 Days

by masalabuzz

Dhurandhar: The Revenge has created history at the Australian box office, becoming the highest-grossing Indian film in the market within just 10 days of release. Headlined by Ranveer Singh, the film collected AUD 568K on its second Saturday, taking its total to AUD 5.99 million — surpassing the lifetime earnings of its predecessor, Dhurandhar (AUD 5.60 million).

The film has now crossed the AUD 6 million mark, setting a new benchmark for Indian cinema in Australia. By the end of the day, collections are expected to reach around AUD 6.40 million. With a strong second weekend contributing nearly AUD 1.40 million, the film continues to show impressive momentum.

Looking ahead, the upcoming week could further boost collections due to the Easter holiday period, although competition from Hollywood releases is expected. Even so, the film is well on track to comfortably exceed AUD 7 million and has a solid chance of touching the AUD 8 million mark by the end of its theatrical run.

To put things into perspective, these numbers would place the film roughly 40% ahead of the previous all-time record and nearly 60% higher than the top-performing non-Dhurandhar title, Animal. While the Australian market for Indian films has grown significantly post-pandemic, the scale and speed of this film’s success stand out as exceptional.

A look at Indian films in Australia

The journey of Indian cinema in Australia has seen steady growth over the years. 3 Idiots was the first to cross AUD 1 million back in 2009. This was followed by several record-breaking films led by Aamir Khan, including Dhoom 3 (AUD 1.75 million), PK (AUD 2.11 million), and Dangal (AUD 2.62 million).

A major leap came in 2017 with Baahubali: The Conclusion, which earned AUD 4.40 million. After a brief slowdown in the late 2010s, the market picked up again post-2022, with films now reaching new heights — a trend that Dhurandhar: The Revenge has significantly accelerated.
