Dhurandhar Smashes Records: Ranveer Singh Starrer Nets Rs. 300 Crore in Profits
Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar has officially wrapped up its main box office run, and the numbers are nothing short of staggering. The film has collected approximately Rs. 786.5 crore nett in India and around USD 30.1 million (Rs. 271 crore) overseas, bringing its worldwide gross to roughly Rs. 1,215 crore. A few crores more might trickle in, but the major haul is already in. This makes Dhurandhar the highest-grossing Bollywood/Hindi film of all time outside China.
On the recovery side, the film has generated nearly Rs. 600 crore, ranking it among the highest recoveries ever for a Bollywood movie. Only Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan and Pathaan surpass it, mainly thanks to bigger non-theatrical and overseas earnings. With a net profit of around Rs. 300 crore, Dhurandhar has become one of the most profitable films in industry history.
Interestingly, Dhurandhar started as a single high-budget film costing Rs. 400 crore, but producers split it into two parts just weeks before release. This bold move allowed the team to monetize the story twice through theatrical and non-theatrical channels—turning what could have been a risky proposition into a massive success. Even with the high production cost, the film’s controlled spending and strategic release made the profit story possible.
Some nuances in the numbers are worth noting: while India’s gross was around Rs. 950 crore, the distributor share came to Rs. 335 crore. This was slightly below what might have been expected (Rs. 390–400 crore), mainly because a big chunk of earnings came after the first two weeks when distributor share terms naturally drop.
Looking ahead, the sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, is already attracting record-breaking non-theatrical deals and is expected to have a front-loaded theatrical run, which should boost distributor shares significantly. Industry insiders believe the sequel could surpass even Jawan in terms of recoveries, setting new benchmarks for Bollywood.
