Over the years, Varun Dhawan has built a special bond with many of his co-stars. From Alia Bhatt and Anushka Sharma to Shraddha Kapoor and Kriti Sanon, he’s shared the screen with some of Bollywood’s top female actors. But it seems Varun is particularly close to his Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari co-star, Janhvi Kapoor. He has also spoken warmly about Kriti Sanon, Ahan Shetty, and Diljit Dosanjh.
Varun opens up about his friendships
On January 6, 2026, Varun hosted a Q&A session with his fans on X. Among the questions, one fan asked, “A co-star who is one of your bestest friends?” Varun didn’t hesitate to answer.
The Student of the Year debutant revealed that he is quite close to Janhvi Kapoor, with whom he worked on films like Bawaal and Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari. He also mentioned that Kriti Sanon, his co-star from Bhediya and Dilwale, is a good friend. Varun didn’t stop there—he fondly spoke about his Border 2 co-stars Ahan Shetty and Diljit Dosanjh, writing, “I’m pretty close to Janhvi, also Kriti is a good friend. Had a great time working with Ahan and Diljit recently #varunsays.”
Varun responds to criticism with humor
During the session, Varun also responded to a fan who criticized some of his films, showing his signature wit and grace.
Looking ahead: Border 2 and more
On the work front, Varun starred alongside Janhvi Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra, and Rohit Saraf in the 2025 rom-com Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari. He later made a cameo in Thamma, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna.
Now, Varun is gearing up for the release of Border 2, the sequel to J. P. Dutta’s 1997 classic Border. Directed by Anurag Singh and produced by Bhushan Kumar, the patriotic actioner also stars Sunny Deol, Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Anya Singh, and Medha Rana. The film hits cinemas on January 23, 2026.
In addition, Varun will reunite with his father, filmmaker David Dhawan, for the fourth time in Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. Fans are eagerly waiting to see this father-son collaboration on screen once again.
