Assi Box Office Update: Taapsee Pannu’s Courtroom Drama Eyes Rs. 8 Crore Mark After Second Week
Assi, directed by Anubhav Sinha, saw a 20–25% drop on its second Friday, adding roughly Rs. 40 lakh to its total. Unlike bigger films that often hold or even grow on Fridays, Assi experienced a dip in business. This brings the eight-day total to around Rs. 6.90 crore nett at the Indian box office.
Backed by T-Series Films and Benaras Mediaworks, the Taapsee Pannu starrer is expected to pick up over the weekend. Estimates suggest it could add Rs. 1.75–2 crore, taking its total to approximately Rs. 8 crore. Based on current trends, the film is likely to wrap its theatrical run around the Rs. 10 crore mark, which is modest by today’s standards.
For context, the previous collaboration between Anubhav Sinha and Taapsee, Thappad, opened with Rs. 2.75 crore and went on to earn Rs. 13.50 crore in its opening weekend. Thappad eventually recovered its costs and ended its run at around Rs. 30 crore nett — considered a good outcome for a socially driven drama in today’s market.
