Alia Bhatt’s journey is a quiet reminder that patience and persistence really do pay off. After winning hearts — and a National Award — as an actor, she stepped into the world of production in 2022 with Darlings, a bold black comedy that marked a new chapter in her career. Now, she’s back in producer mode once again, this time to tell a lighter, more romantic story — and she’s doing it alongside her sister, Shaheen Bhatt.

The Bhatt sisters recently announced their new film, Don’t Be Shy, and true to their bond, the announcement came with plenty of laughs, chaos, and playful banter. It’s clear they’re enjoying the process just as much as the project itself.

Under their banner, Eternal Sunshine Productions, Alia and Shaheen have always focused on stories that feel personal and honest. After navigating the long, messy, and often chaotic process of finding the right script, they’ve finally landed on Don’t Be Shy — a warm romantic comedy that promises both heart and humour.

Produced by Alia and Shaheen and co-produced by Grishma Shah and Vikesh Bhutani, the film is written and directed by Sreeti Mukerji, with music by Ram Sampath. The project marks a collaboration between Eternal Sunshine Productions and Prime Video.

Don’t Be Shy follows the story of Shyamili ‘Shy’ Das, a 20-year-old who believes she has her life neatly figured out — until one unexpected turn sends everything spiralling. What follows is a coming-of-age journey filled with love, friendship, self-discovery, and plenty of laughter.

Speaking about the film, Alia shared that Eternal Sunshine was created to support stories that feel authentic and voices that feel truly their own. Calling Don’t Be Shy an incredibly special project, she said the film spoke to them instantly because of its sincerity and fresh coming-of-age perspective. She also praised director Sreeti Mukerji, noting that her passion and energy naturally shaped the spirit of the story.

Nikhil Madhok, Director and Head of Originals at Prime Video India, also shared his excitement about the collaboration. He described the film as a fun yet warm romantic comedy, driven by a memorable central character in Shy Das. Highlighting Alia’s sharp instinct for emotionally rich and relatable stories, he added that the film beautifully captures themes of friendship, love, and growing up.

With its female-forward narrative, fresh writing, and relatable humour, Don’t Be Shy promises to be a feel-good watch that resonates with young audiences — and a heartfelt addition to Alia and Shaheen Bhatt’s growing body of work as producers.
