Ikkis got off to a promising start at the box office, collecting an estimated Rs 6.50 crore on its opening day. The Agastya Nanda starrer clearly benefited from the New Year holiday, making for a strong debut — especially since this is the lead actor’s first theatrical outing. Of course, whenever a film opens better than expected these days, whispers about external factors influencing numbers are inevitable. In this case, however, it doesn’t seem as overt as it was with films like Dhurandhar or Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, which faced scrutiny.
Alongside Agastya Nanda, Ikkis also marks the acting debut of Simar Bhatia, Akshay Kumar’s niece. Directed by Sriram Raghavan, the military drama has received positive reviews from both audiences and critics, giving it a solid chance at a strong box office run.
Now, the key will be maintaining momentum over the weekend and holding steady through the weekdays. If the biographical story of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal PVC continues to perform well, it could become the first hit of 2026.
Adding to the emotional appeal, Ikkis is also the final film of the legendary Dharmendra Deol, who passed away last year. That sentiment may have helped boost the opening, but it would be fitting if the actor with arguably the most hits in Indian cinema signed off with yet another box office success.
