DC is enjoying a strong run at the box office and has successfully cleared its first Monday test. Interestingly, the film recorded a bigger collection on Monday than it managed on its opening day. On Day 4, the movie earned Rs. 6.50 crore, registering a 23 per cent jump over its opening-day collection. The Monday hold is an impressive one.
With this collection, DC has taken its running total to Rs. 30 crore at the Indian box office. Going by the current trends, the Lokesh Kanagaraj starrer is on track to finish its first week at around Rs. 40 crore. If it achieves that figure, it would be an excellent result for a film that opened with Rs. 5 crore.
Day-wise box office collections of DC
| Day | Gross |
|---|---|
| Friday | Rs. 5.25 crore |
| Saturday | Rs. 7.50 crore |
| Sunday | Rs. 10.75 crore |
| Monday | Rs. 6.50 crore |
| Total | Rs. 30.00 crore |
Starring Wamiqa Gabbi alongside Lokesh Kanagaraj, this modern adaptation of Devdas has crossed the Rs. 9.50 crore mark in Tamil Nadu. Interestingly, the film’s Monday business in the state was almost on par with its Friday collection.
The film is also recording excellent momentum in Kerala. Its Monday performance in the state was higher than both its opening day and Saturday. After beginning its Kerala run with just Rs. 50 lakh, DC jumped to Rs. 2.50 crore on Sunday. On Monday, it added another Rs. 1.50 crore, which is three times its Day 1 figure. The film has now collected Rs. 6.25 crore in Kerala, reflecting an exceptional trend.
DC is showing similarly encouraging performance in Karnataka and the Telugu-speaking states. During its first four days, the movie earned more than Rs. 8.50 crore from AP/TS and Rs. 3.75 crore from Karnataka. The remaining Indian territories have contributed approximately Rs. 2 crore to its overall tally.
If the film maintains this momentum in the coming days, DC could eventually emerge as a clean hit at the box office. Notably, the film marks director Lokesh Kanagaraj’s acting debut.
