As per early estimates, Welcome To The Jungle grossed Rs. 78 crore in India (Rs. 65 crore nett) during its opening weekend, while overseas markets added another Rs. 17 crore gross (USD 1.75 million). The film’s worldwide total now stands at an impressive Rs. 95 crore gross.
The weekdays will now play a decisive role in determining the film’s theatrical outcome. A steady hold on Monday, followed by healthy weekday collections, will be crucial for the comedy entertainer to emerge as a successful box office performer.
Unlike Bhooth Bangla, the film is set to face stiff competition over the coming weeks, with major releases like Alpha, Dhamaal 4, The Odyssey, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day arriving in quick succession. Sustaining momentum amid this crowded release calendar will be key to its long-term run.
Although the Welcome franchise enjoys strong brand recognition, the opening numbers have drawn mixed reactions. While the start is respectable, expectations were naturally higher for one of Bollywood’s most successful comedy franchises.
A possible reason is that the promotional campaign did not fully capitalize on the franchise’s legacy. Moreover, this installment adopts a parody- and spoof-driven style of comedy, unlike its predecessors, which were mounted as large-scale family entertainers. The absence of fan-favorite characters Uday and Majnu has also reduced some of the nostalgia factor, slightly limiting the franchise’s appeal.
That said, the Welcome brand has undoubtedly contributed to the film’s opening. Without the franchise value, the initial collections could have been considerably lower.
