EXCLUSIVE: Shah Rukh Khan Declines Jailer 2 Cameo, Prioritizes King
It has been exclusively learned that Shah Rukh Khan has politely declined a cameo appearance in Jailer 2, starring Rajinikanth. The superstar has chosen to focus entirely on his upcoming film King, aiming to maintain exclusivity around his on-screen presence.
According to sources, SRK is keen to avoid making any big-screen appearances before King releases, as he wants his look and performance in the film to remain unique and impactful.
A source revealed, “The makers were interested in having Shah Rukh Khan for a five-day cameo, and he was open to the idea. However, his priority right now is King, which is extremely important to him, especially since it marks the big-screen debut of his daughter, Suhana Khan. During discussions, SRK expressed willingness but requested that Jailer 2 release after King, as he wanted his appearance to remain exclusive. He has a specific look in King and prefers not to replicate it elsewhere before its release.”
Despite stepping away from the project, Shah Rukh Khan continues to hold deep admiration for Rajinikanth and is very open to collaborating with him in the future at the right time.
The source added, “The makers were planning an August release for Jailer 2, ahead of King in December. Due to the conflicting timelines, both parties mutually agreed to part ways amicably. Shah Rukh Khan also personally spoke to Rajinikanth, expressing his respect and assuring him that he would be happy to collaborate in the future—whether for a cameo or a full-fledged role.”
Initially, the team of Jailer 2 had requested a five-day shoot in April, but scheduling conflicts with King made it unfeasible. The separation was handled with mutual respect, and the makers are now considering another major star for the cameo role.
Directed by Siddharth Anand, King features a star-studded cast including Shah Rukh Khan, Suhana Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, and Arshad Warsi. The film is slated for a theatrical release in December 2026.
Meanwhile, Jailer 2, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and starring Rajinikanth, is nearing completion. The superstar recently confirmed that shooting is almost finished, with the film currently in its final stages of post-production.
